Spring is here

It was such great fun to inaugurate the outdoor yoga season yesterday! I’m back to teaching my weekly all-levels community class at Lincoln Park. Pink blossoms all around, squirrels racing up and down tree branches, families with kids, happy dogs, (socially distanced) joggers and other fitness enthusiasts out in full force - we all have our reasons to come to the park. Whether to read a book in solitude, keep the mind and body healthy, or safely reconnect with friends, this place is so special in our community! I remember when the park was temporarily closed last year during the lockdown and it was quite upsetting not to have this welcoming outdoor space (especially since my neighbors were doing a total house renovation at the time).

The pandemic is still here. I can hardly believe that this is the second year already when I won’t be able to go to the Tidal Basin and enjoy the cherry blossoms. Of course there are other spots to see them in peak bloom around the city but that iconic location is special. There are many other places and people we’ve all longed to visit during this difficult year and it remains unclear when we safely can. In Jewish faith, Passover started yesterday and the phase "Next year in Jerusalem" is often sung at the end of the Seder. In that spirit, let’s all find hope for the future and pick our own destination for “Next year in…”

In the meantime, let’s strive to find joy, peace of mind, and physical well-being here and now, wherever we are. If for you that location happens to be Washington DC, please subscribe to my mailing list and join my pop-up weekend yoga classes in Lincoln Park!
