Easter yoga

After a few colder days the weather in Washington DC is amazing today! Whether you celebrate Easter or not, here is my gift in lieu of painted eggs (or traditional Polish babka since I’m not a great baker): an outdoor yoga class! Today’s theme - rebirth and its internal source, the heart. As the world around me turns green, that’s the color my heard radiates with. Plants and animals wake up from winter slumber and I feel more awake and alive along with them.

Take the next 45 minutes to practice with me and remember, we’re not just working on strength and flexibility here, although these are wonderful benefits of yoga. We’re looking for a deeper connection - body, mind, and spirit - that can be found in a particular pose, but also in the energy of the breath or simply in a moment of stillness. In yoga philosophy, body is our instrument for accessing deeper knowledge about ourselves and the universe. We’re more than this flesh - even twisted in the most impressive Instagram-able pose. You don’t have to be religious to appreciate if it rings true in your personal experience, but here is what the Bible has to say about that:

Those who are in the flesh cannot please God. You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. (Romans 8:8-9)

So find a comfortable spot - safely socially distanced outdoor like me if you can - and take your favorite seated position. Breathe in… breathe out… now press “play” and enjoy! Happy Easter - Wesołych Świąt - Feliz Pascua - Buona Pasqua - Frohe Ostern!
